Another year in film has passed. For me, 2014 was a decent year. I need to go back and watch some of the movies I missed before I can get a clear feeling on the year as a whole.
In this post I have two lists, one highlighting my favorite movies that I did see and the last one is movies I am still planning on watching. After reading my list feel free to add some suggestions in the comments section below.
My 2014 favorites
I was hooked as soon as I heard it was James Gandolfini and Tom Hardy in a crime drama.
A beautiful film that was funded on Kickstarter and it was created from the mind of Zach Braff.
Jon Hamm and baseball; need I say more?
Hands down the best comic book movie of the year!
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
The best of the series so far!
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
My favorite Captain American movie to date.
Gone Girl
One of the best movies of the year! I still get chills just thinking about it.
This Is Where I Leave You
A very smart and funny movie.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
I still wish Peter Jackson would have stuck with just making one great movie, but this final installment was entertaining to watch.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
I am sure I will enjoy part 2 more, but this was a nice start to the end of the trilogy.
The Judge
Two great actors in this courtroom drama.
The Monuments Men
A fascinating historical story told in this very good movie.
X-Men: Days of Future Past
X-Men and time travel; enough said.
Foxcatcher
A tragic story unfolds in this very good biopic.
Life Itself
A documentary about the great Roger Ebert. A must see for all film lovers!
Nightcrawler
The creep story done to perfection due to the amazing performance of Jake Gyllenhaal.
2014 movies I still want to see.
